How to make the BEST milkshakes

Take your choice of flavoured milkshake and add a donut, a dollop of ice cream and some sprinkles and what do you have? Diabetes waiting to happen? Well, maybe, but that’s not the answer we’re looking for! We were going for ‘a sweet-infused masterpiece’.

Perfect for an occasional treat, these sweet tasting Instagram-worthy treats look incredible and will bring more than just the boys to your yard. Cue queues of everyone from children to bikini-clad girls, parents, the odd grandma and definitely a few food bloggers.

These strawberry milkshakes are in sprinkle-decorated glasses and are topped with two iced doughnuts, a selection of mini doughnuts on a skewer, a dollop of whipped cream and, of course, a generous helping of chocolate sauce and sprinkles. Stick a straw straight through the doughnuts and there you have it! You have the choice of eating the whipped cream or carefully removing the doughnuts to let it sink into the milkshake, making it creamier for those hot days in the sun.

This tasty looking chocolate milkshake creation features a variety of white and milk chocolate balls and chocolate buttons which have been stuck to the side of the glass and has been topped with an actual slice of chocolate cake. Doesn’t it look delicious?!

This m&m-infused milkshake features a blob of ice cream coated with the extra addition of peanut butter Reese’s Pieces, a blob of whipped cream, two breadsticks and a generous helping of chocolate syrup!

This coffee and chocolate flavoured milkshake will get your taste buds watering before you even start thinking about the extravagant toppings you could decorate it with! This one contains a selection of mini chocolate chip cookies, chocolate espresso beans, caramel bars, waffles, mini doughnuts, chocolate straws, a helping of chocolate sauce and more! (Yes, really – they’ve gone all out with this mouth-watering creation!)

This sweet-infused creation contains a variety of sweets atop a strawberry shake. From a large swirly-patterned lollipop to a rainbow sour tape on a skewer, a dash of whipped cream, strawberry flavoured ice cream and even a handful of frozen strawberries, this shake looks incredible!

We all love to cool down with a tasty ice cream on a hot day, but have you ever considered sticking a mini ice cream cone on the top? No, we haven’t either!

Ok, so this one isn’t a milkshake but we couldn’t resist adding it to this summery list. Whoever thought of this one is a genius. The ice creams are also decorated with macarons, pretty edible flowers and, of course, a variety of ice cream flavours for the finishing touch.

Personalise your summer milkshakes to your tastes – you can top them with anything from sweets to biscuits and cookies and marshmallows. Kick things up a notch with a skewer full of profiteroles, chunks of fudge or even popcorn, pretzels or a helping of cotton candy. Finish with a handful of sprinkles and your choice of sauce, whether chocolate, caramel, fudge, strawberry or whatever else you can get your hands on!

Ok, so these creations are obviously a diet-breaker regardless of how you do it, but if you prefer to live in denial sometimes, why not add some healthy yet delicious chocolate coated strawberries or a selection of blueberries, cherries and slices of banana to the top of your shake?!

It doesn’t have to be in a milkshake glass either! Fill a mason jar or a fancy ice cream sundae dish with milkshake or scoops of various flavoured ice cream or just use a bowl and a straw or spoon and enjoy. Delicious! Decorate the rims of the glasses or sundae glasses by covering them with a layer of vanilla or chocolate frosting and quickly roll them in sprinkles, a variety of chocolate pieces or anything else that takes your fancy. Get creative and treat yourself – you deserve it!

  1. My daughter kept nicking mini donuts off the counter while I was trying to stick the sprinkles to the glass! But it was a very tasty treat and a fun girly activity for us both. Thanks for sharing!
