How to get a (very) alcoholic sugar rush

Nestlé have claimed to have discovered how to reconstruct the sugar in its chocolate bars so the amount can be cut by up to 40%. They say it will be ready by next year, but will it taste as good? Unfortunately, we will have to wait to find out… After finding out about our favourite alcoholic sweet treats below, click here to learn more about the new development in our blog post if you haven’t already!

While we (impatiently) wait, we have no choice but to make do with the already available range of treats to sweeten up our weekends with something a little different and treat our sweet tooth… not that we’re complaining! Don’t say we don’t love you.

Sugafina is New York’s ‘luxury candy store’ and they are the geniuses that introduced rosé flavoured gummy bears into our lives. Believe it or not, the sweets sold out within just 2 hours of the flavour being announced and they’ve been flying off the shelves ever since they first hit the store… Sugafina even had to create a waiting list!

Will you be visiting a John Lewis any time soon or just happen to live near to one (or are willing to make the journey)? If the answer to any of these questions is yes, then you would be mad not to treat yourself to a box of Sugarsin’s Prosecco Gummy Bears at £6.50 a box. They may be expensive but are delicious and alcoholic – the perfect combination and a tasty alternative (or addition.. we don’t judge!) to a bottle of wine!

Champagne truffles are most definitely a thing and will make your tastebuds feels as though they’re in heaven. Literally… You’re welcome.

Harvey Nichols stocks cocktail pastilles from Smith and Sinclair that seem expensive at £9.50, until you find out that they contain 6% alcohol. Yes, they will put you over the driving limit and no, you won’t be able to stop eating once you start!

Drop a selection of your favourite summer berries into a glass, fill it up with wine, prosecco or champagne and add a scoop of vanilla ice cream before adding another splash of alcohol and maybe a cherry for the finishing touch!

Shake up your milkshake or hot chocolate by adding a shot of amaretto or Baileys (or both if you’re feeling adventurous!), a scoop of ice cream, a squirt of cream and top with some grated chocolate shavings to treat your taste buds! Warning: this is guaranteed to make you put on weight. Spoil yourself at your own risk!

Enjoy tantalising your taste buds whilst we wait for a healthier chocolate alternative. Since it won’t be available until next year, we will have to continue doing the odd workout to justify the calories… but if it isn’t totally worth it then we’re not sure what is!
